Trust in the Lord - Part 1

Pick an area of your life that you are feeling vulnerable in right now. It may be relationships, marriage, finances, children, career, church, friendships or health.

What percentage of that area of your life are you trusting God with? Are you trusting Him 100% to do all He has promised to do?

Or are you trusting Him with some aspects, say 50%, but keeping control of other 50%, just in case God doesn't come through for you?

Or maybe you have given up on God completely in that area and are going it alone. There is little or no trust in God. The trust meter is at 0%.

Over the years of being a Christian, I have learned that it is big journey to move from 0% to that place of 100% trusting God. A journey that, for me, has required me to lay down those feelings, hurts and disappointments and pick up God's truth. It has meant I have had to learn to be okay with not fully understanding everything that is going on. It has involved a gradual process of yielding to God's ways, in preference to my ways.

The journey has essentially been about learning to live as Proverbs 3:5-6 tells us.

Trust in the LORD with all your heart, and lean not on your own understanding; In all your ways acknowledge Him, and He shall direct your paths. Proverbs 3:5-6 NKJV

Thankfully God is gracious and patient with us as we learn to trust Him with all our hearts and acknowledge Him in all our ways. Over the next few posts I will be exploring some more of what The Bible says about trusting God.

Action for today, for that vulnerable area in your life where trusting God is difficult, ask Him right now, to show you what that next step is in the journey, to take you to the next level of trust.

Lean on, trust in, and be confident in the Lord with all your heart and mind and do not rely on your own insight or understanding. In all your ways know, recognise, and acknowledge Him, and He will direct and make straight and plain your paths. Proverbs 3:5-6 AMP
