What have you chosen to wear today?
Are you going to put on the protection that God provides to help us resist those fiery darts from the devil?
Let's take a few moments to have think about what God has provided for us, as spiritual protection in this world....
Put on all of God's armour so that you will be able to stand firm against all strategies of the devil. For we are not fighting against flesh and blood enemies, but against evil rulers and authorities of the unseen world, against mighty powers in this dark world, and against evil spirits in the heavenly places. Ephesians 6:11-12 NLT
We need God's help, His authority, in this spiritual battle. The Message Bible puts it this way,
Be prepared. You're up against far more than you can handle on your own. Take all the help you can get, every weapon God has issued, so that when it's all over but the shouting you'll still be on your feet. Ephesians 6:13 The Message
So what are the pieces of armour that we need to put on?
1. The belt of Truth - (Eph 6:14) - Taking every thought captive and declaring God's truth in all circumstances.
2. The breastplate of Righteousness - (Eph 6:14) - Knowing that you know, that you know, that you know, that you are in right-standing with God because of what Jesus has done for you.
3. The shoes of the Gospel of Peace - (Eph 6:15) - God loves us all, Jesus came to save all people, giving life. Our thoughts, words and actions need to reflect this Gospel of Peace. He loves the one who is lost.
4. The shield of Faith - (Eph 6:16) - to rebuke all the lies that come your way, keep trusting that God's word is true.
5. The helmet of Salvation - (Eph 6:17) - your assurance of eternal life because of Jesus, the Way, the Truth and the Life.
6. The sword of the Spirit - (Eph 6:17) - the Word of God - Jesus - to whom all authority is given.
And Paul reminds us, pray, pray, pray.
In the same way, prayer is essential in this ongoing warfare. Pray hard and long. Pray for your brothers and sisters. Keep your eyes open. Keep each other's spirits up so that no-one falls behind or drops out. Ephesians 6:19 The Message
So today, let's not get complacent about what is happening in the spiritual world. Let's make the choice to put on God's armour so we can resist and stand firm. And keep praying.
Therefore put on God's complete armour, that you may be able to resist and stand your ground on the evil day [of danger], and, having done all [the crisis demands], to stand [firmly in your place]. Ephesians 6:13 AMP
