Saving is all his idea

Now God has us where he wants us, with all the time in this world and the next to shower grace and kindness upon us in Christ Jesus. Saving is all his idea, and all his work. All we do is trust him enough to let him do it! It's God's gift from start to finish! We don't play the major role. If we did, we'd probably go around bragging that we'd done the whole thing! No, we neither make nor save ourselves. God does both the making and the saving. Ephesians 2:7-9 MSG

As I read this scripture, all I can do is say, 'Thank you God for all you have done for me and are going to do for me. Thank you God for all you have bought me through and are going to bring me through. Thank you for all the grace and kindness you have showered on me and are going to shower on me.'

These words of thanks barely seem enough in response to the amazing gift of salvation, and His grace and kindness. But I guess it is not so much the words, but the attitude of our heart towards Him. Jesus tells us to love God with our whole heart, soul, mind and strength.

Jesus answered, The first and principal one of all commands is: Hear, O Israel, The Lord our God is one Lord; And you shall love the Lord your God out of and with your whole heart and out of and with all your soul (your life) and out of and with all your mind (with your faculty of thought and your moral understanding) and out of and with all your strength. This is the first and principal commandment. Mark 12:29-30 AMP

So why do we love God?

We love Him, because He first loved us. 1 John 4:19 AMP

His love for us is perfect. There is no fear or condemnation when we are in Christ Jesus.

There is no fear in love [dread does not exist], but full-grown (complete, perfect) love turns fear out of doors and expels every trace of terror! For fear brings with it the thought of punishment, and [so] he who is afraid has not reached the full maturity of love [is not yet grown into love's complete perfection]. 1 John 4:18 AMP

So when we are in Christ Jesus, experiencing God's love and grace, we have the authority to shut the door on fear. We the power of the Holy Spirit to move us from bondage to fear to the freedom of salvation.

For [the Spirit which] you have now received [is] not a spirit of slavery to put you once more in bondage to fear, but you have received the Spirit of adoption [the Spirit producing sonship] in [the bliss of] which we cry, Abba (Father)! Father! Romans 8:15 AMP

We are God's children. He made us and saved us. He has a plan and a purpose for us.  He wants to shower us with kindness and grace. As the scripture says, all we do is trust him enough to let him do it.

Questions for today, Are you able to trust God enough to let him shower you with grace and kindness? Can you love God purely because He loved you first? Are you living as though you are God's precious child, whom He made and saved?

Blessed and fortunate and happy and spiritually prosperous (in that state in which the born again child of God enjoys His favour and salvation) are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness (uprightness and right standing with God), for they shall be completely satisfied! Matthew 5:6 AMP
